I cased a card!!!!

Hello Everyone.

My lovely Bloggy friend Greta (GG Creations.) is celebrating her 1st anniversary of her Blog, and she has put out a Challenge to her followers to case one of her earlier cards, and although I do not case cards, I thought this would be fun, as Greta's style is so very different to mine, I chose this one:

She has used her copics to create a graduated Bg. I did not use copics for the simple reason I am not proficient or competent with these pens, I am in my element with my watercolours and this is what I used to re-create the Bg.

My Stamp is from  Stampers Anonymous, and the sentiment is Penny Black.
I had to add a Butterfly as this is a smaller card than Greta's and I felt it needed more... of course!!!!

If you  want to join in, Greta is giving away a little prize to 3 winners, you have until March 10th, and you can view her post here to enter.

And a little addition I thought you may like, you may have to indulge me here....
Precious got into my make-up!!!!
You can tell by her facial expressions, that she is a real character!

Thanks so much for visiting,
Smiles:)

Sweet Treat Tag.

Hello Everyone.
Hope you having a crafty weekend, and if you are lacking a little inspiration, then read on as this week at Our Creative Corner there is a challenge that may put that little spark right in your creative sweet spot.... Paula is our Hostess this week and she is celebrating her Birthday;

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAULA hope you have a good one.
So to mark such an occasion she wants to see a cake.
The Challenge then, is to make a cake creation using Red, Blue and Yellow with layer upon layer.
This is my cake on a Tag:
The first layer is once again a Bg made with assorted media; namely acrylic paints, distress stains and gold metallics, then dry embossed.
This painted up Cs was used on most parts of the Tag.
The cake shape, banner and sentiment were cut on the cricut, and embellished to death, with bling, Gold scraplings, stickles and glossy accents.

I placed one candle on top as Paula I suggest has passed the age of counting candles!!!

Hope you can hop along to see  my teamies cake creations here and join us for some birthday fun this week.

A Special Card.

Hello Everyone

I present to you today a card I have made for my daughter; my first born, who arrived into the world traumatically at (35weeks), well it was traumatic for me anyway. She is still my baby even after 35years, as I am again traumatised on how quickly these years have passed by.  Nicole of course has presented to the family the ultimate gift in the form of the "Precious One" also known as Scarlett, who I just love to pieces, she is boundless in her energy and sweeps through the house like a tornado every time she visits.... I just love it.

I first made my Bg  paper, using peeled paint and with splotches of broken china distress inks. I
stamped over this one side in the chicken wire design and the other half in the splatter design both stamps are 'Rubbadubbadoo'.

The second layer is painted up in a mix of victorian velvet and  brushed pewter stains on cream card, and then dry embossed. I used my  SB diecuts  for the side decoration, sentiment and the frame.

Third layer is the same as first but victorian velvet as the accent, and some kwik-mesh on top.
Inside the frame is a stamped design on cream Cs, and the little metal butterfly as a focal point and contrast, this acts to shock the eye, as it collides with the softness of the Bg.

I made three  flowers, added twists of burlap and pearls, and  if you look closely there is a strip of lace on the side border.

Have a great weekend and welcome to my new followers, it is a pleasure to have you on board.

Smiles:)

One out of the Box!

Hello everyone,
Inspirational photo.
Today I have something very different to show you, this week at Our Creative Corner our hostess Lisa, has set a very quirky challenge: 'Party like it's Mardi Gras'  and she has included an inspirational photo.

Initially I didn't have a clue what I was going to make, a card was out of the question, and I thought a decoration of some sort would be too difficult, so I opted for a tag.

I found a  mask on the Internet, printed it out, then proceeded to de-construct by fussy cutting, altering some areas and then redesigning the mask.

I die-cut a scroll, and painted it in gold acrylic and then dry embossed for some texture.
I finished off by adding the blue feathers, to create the drama and excitement that you see in the photo.
It is like nothing I have ever made before, very different, very unique, and a bit quirky, perfect for Lisa's last challenge as a Dt with us at OCC. (sniff).

Hope you can join us this week,  and as is my want, I will encourage you to hop over to see what my teamies have come up with.

Hope you are having a great weekend and thanks for visiting.
Smiles :-)

Not so Mushy!

Hello Everyone,
This is my second attempt at writing this post, the first was inadvertently deleted as I was editing...... positively exasperating!
I am having one of those days where the brain is being difficult, whatever is lurking around in there is causing havoc, as I appear to be a bit moony today, perhaps it is because I had to make a card that contained some Mush.... which means- soft and slushy.

This weeks Challenge at Our Creative Corner.
Our lovely Lisa in her usual quirky way set the theme-  'Make Mine Mushy!'
(A Valentine card) what the heck; Mushy...how would it connect to Valentine and Love.
So me being me looked it up, and found there are two definitions, the first as I mentioned above, but there is another and that is- excessively sentimental or emotional. When I read this I sat very quiet for a moment........ thinking......hard.
Now you understand why my brain is frazzed!
Oh, and there is also a Sketch!
I had no Mush in me, not a smidgen.
Thank goodness for the Sketch to at least rekindle some creative juices, I pushed mushy to the recesses of the now incompetent brain, and proceeded head on making my Grid card.

I embossed some home made Bg paper and diecut the squares and heart.
My button was purchased from the Frilly and Funky boutique, I dripped some Alcohol ink on top of this to blend in with the Pink palette.
The background papers within the squares are Graphic 45. My two timepiece embellishments are Tim Holtz.

I've found this allegorical sentence on Google, which I thought would suffice for my mushy element!
It is so not me, I would burst out laughing if my dearest Rob sent me a card with these words on it. Not that he would send me a card as I am classed as Bah humbug when it comes to Valentines day. Mr Scrooge I certainly am not, I just cannot see the point of this day that's all.

Now you will have to agree that Lisa has created a challenge that on the surface appears relatively easy, and if you are disposed to a little Mushy, then this will be a breeze for you, the question, however, is if you are able to declare an excessive emotion onto paper?
This is the challenge!

You will be delighted to know that more mushiness can be found here as my fellow teamies have created wonderful pieces to inspire you.

Hope you will join us, have a great weekend,
Smiles :-)
