Most of you will know by now that Tim Holtz has a Challenge going on inviting creations using his 'Tattered Florals' Die here, and as you can imagine it has drawn out the best of the best in the upper echelon of creators........ I love this die, and I make most of my flowers with it, I wanted to enter this Challenge very much, but when I perused through the thumbnails, I have to to be honest and say I was very intimidated by the entries... I thought this is way out of my league. But on introspection I concluded that these people are the minority, and my work is pleasing to me and I hope inspiring to some, so with these thoughts I am entering this card, it may be overlooked, but at least I am giving it a go, as I really want to enter this Challenge.
I will take you through the process on how my flowers were made.
A selection of painted papers some are water colour and some are dylusions.
I cut the whole set of flowers out but I did not use all the shapes.
I used these two sizes using my balling tool to break down the fibres of the paper and curl them upwards, I now layer up glueing down as I go.
I have cut a petal out of one shape and two petals out of the next one because I am working towards the centre, this may seem backwards to many, and there is no reason why you cannot work from the centre outwards, whichever you prefer, it works both ways.
Keep going until you like your shape and how big you want your Flower.
I am stopping here.
I was trying to produce a Ranunculus flower, as the petals are often lustrous and quite beautiful.
Here I have finished shaping them and added the beads to their centres.
Arranging them was difficult, as the paper are not forgiving, but perseverance and wonder tape works together well.
My Bg needed to match my bouquet, I used Green as this is the palette of Nature.
The sentiment is from Penny Black 'gratitude' set.
I would also like to enter The Divas that cut March Challenge -'Anything Green'
and
A new Challenge blog started this week- 'Country View Crafts'-pick and mix.
Thanks for visiting,
Smiles:)
Sue.

That is stunning, Sue! Thanks for the tutes on the flowers - gotta give that a go!
Tattered florals is my favorite die! I even did a whole week featuring that die on the DCD blog.
I will definitely have to try that, I usually do my flowers flat on the card or the edges tilted slightly, But I like how you curled them all up. I'll have to fave it on flickr.
Thanks for playing along with us on the DCD blog!
As soon as I saw the card I knew exactly what flower they represented... you really nailed the look of the Ranunculus. Thanks for joining us at Die Cut Diva's and for the little tutorial.
You are a master at flowers, my friend! Never consider yourself outclassed--it isn't possible! I've had my hand on Tattered Florals several times, but didn't buy it--next time I won't have the willpower now that I see how you've used it! I even have those beads in cha cha & other colors, so I'm going to use them for flower centers. Gorgeous creation with the perfect sentiment!
