FLAG #11-Funkie Junkie Style.

Hello Everyone,
The Holly Tree.

No tutorial this week, as it is pretty straight forward and I am sure you could all work it out on how it was put together.
If you are not up to speed with this Challenge; Linda has all the info and her tags here for you to see... check it out.
Challenge: 12 Tags of Christmas - Funkie Junkie Style -Week #11

Linda's Tag.
Multiple holly leaves glued to a rosette.
And as you can see if you click on the photo you will pick up on the netting and lace, these were the elements that caught my eye along with the Holly leaves.
I knew immediately what I was going to do with my Flag, I was chomping at the bit to start working on it, but life got in the way and it was Friday before I could actually put everything that was in my head down on the card stock!

I embossed the Bg, but this time I inked the folder with tumbled glass distress stain, before running it through the Big shot.

I made a Holly Tree instead of a wreath, and covered it with the  netting, then I added some bling at the base.

The top of the Flag.

I have kept this Flag uncluttered, as I wanted the tree to be dominant, even though it looks busy, I feel the Flag has a simplicity. White being the super neutral works with any colour, in any context, anywhere!
So I could not go wrong with the palette, safe as houses with this one!

It turned out more or less as I envisaged, so I am happy.

We are almost to the finish line.  December 17th is cut off time for this Challenge.

Wistful and Soft.

Hello Everyone,

A quick post from me as I want to show you a Christmas card I made out of  a muted/mellow palette. This Challenge over at 'the ribbon reel' grabbed my attention as it is such a unique and pretty theme.
Lenet is the hostess and she has provided a photo for inspiration to help the creative juices flow.
I was inspired, as the colours are soft and wistful, but whether I have captured this in my card is debatable, it was a great opportunity for me to stretch my thought processes towards the untraditional for a change.

'Pastel Christmas'- CREAM, BABY BLUE & PINK and some BLING!

The letters were cut on the cricut, inked up with distress stains and then Glossy accents applied on top.
The Bg has been inked with Antique Linen, and Picket Fence Distress stains.
I glued some stars on and some mesh, then run it through an embossing folder.
To add a little more interest and dimension, I ripped up a piece of scrap that was lying on the craft desk, and attach the Christmas word.

The Bling flower adds the sparkle to fulfil the Challenge requirements.

This card was fun to make, and  as you can all observe I stopped quite quickly, when normally I would tend to add many more elements!!!

Sweet Christmas Angels.

Hello Everyone.
I guess you are wondering who the Angels are?
Well, it's us girls at Our Creative Corner of course, we have been reaching for our Angel images and creating beautiful creations for you, and we would very much like you to join in this week, as our lovely Polish Angel; Irena has set a great Challenge:
Challenge ABC:
A for Angel, B for Buttons, C for Chipboard.
How easy is that?
Not so abstruse as the last two challenges I hear you saying!

Here is my offering to wet those creative juices that will soon be dribbling all over your keyboard.....gosh that sentence is a bit tasteless! (pun not intended.)

I better just show you my card, before I land myself in a whole heap of crap!

I think my Angels are from Bo Bunny Pp, the Bg paper is definitely Bo Bunny, which I stitched and dry embossed.
I cut my stars from chipboard on the cricut and inked one up in Fired Brick distress ink and painted the other in Gold Acrylic. My buttons are adhered to my Ribbon Banner, and the sentiment is computer generated.
So off you fly my Angels..... towards your craft desk and provide a little offering to OCC,
More inspirational dribbles can be found at  Our Creative Corner.
Have a great weekend.

Flag 10 -Funkie Junkie Style

Hello Everyone.

Challenge: 12 Tags of Christmas - Funkie Junkie Style - Week #10
and also entering my Flag into  the 'Chipboard and Metal' challenge over at Frilly and Funkie.

Linda made a Charmer of a Tag this week.

We were also given the image to work with if we wanted....... and I wanted!!!!
My inspiration was the whole Tag, I love every detail of this one.
The brick texture fade was an issue as I do not have one, but never one to let a small detail such as this stop my creativity, I set about solving that problem very quickly and you will soon see how I achieved this as

I have made a tutorial for you.

It looks like bricks!

The inks I used on the substrate
 I  fussy-cut the little girls.

The Flower was backed with some crinoline and fancy lace, that I bought from the boutique, the leaves are also inked up.

Now you can see the free image, hop along to her Blog and pick it up.

To add more texture.............I heard that sigh !!!!
You will notice my torn crimped paper behind the popped up image, and you will also notice how the little girls come to life popped up as well.

I added the metal clip and twirl.

And the finished Flag which I am pleased with.

The numbers are chipboard, which have been inked in Fired Brick and Chipped Sapphire. (ever so lightly.)

Happy Thanksgiving,

Linda's 12 Tags of Christmas is an inspiration challenge and there will be a winner drawn at the end of the 12 weeks for those who have entered each one. There is plenty of time to take part as each tag challenge will remain open until the 17th December.

Alcohol Inks and a doily!

Hello Everyone.
My 2nd Challenge at Our Creative Corner, brings you the opportunity to make a Christmas project if you are in the same sinking boat as me, and are way behind with the cards!

The Challenge I have set for this week on OCC is:
Foil and Alcohol Inks.
The technique of dripping Alcohol Inks onto Foil has an amazing effect.

There are various types of foil on the market, and Alcohol Inks work on all of them.
I use these two brands, they are very different in weight.
Ranger is self sticking and for stability you need to adhere on to cardstock.
Spellbinders is heavier, and you can use as is, it comes in various colours, but this does not matter, you just have a different effect with your inks; it is fun.
My preference is the SB.

I used 'Red Pepper' and 'Stream' alcohol inks to drip on top of the tin foil!  When you are happy with your result, cut a shape or use as a Bg.
Easy peasy and the effect is amazing,  I used TH Doily and die-cut the foil, then I dry embossed.
My leaves were embossed with enamel ep and the reindeer dry embossed and coloured up with distress stains.
The antlers are a flourish die-cut using the same technique.
I would love you to join me in this Challenge, if you require more inspiration, perhaps this is not enough for your creative juices to flow then no worries........
Help is just a click away here.

Flag No9 -Funkie Junkie style.

Hello Everyone.
Flag No 9
I  can honestly say that I was a bit daunted this week by Lindas Tag.
12 Tags of Christmas - Funkie Junkie Style - Week #9
She has a rustic country look going on!
And the first thing that your eyes fix upon is the check bow.
I did not want to put a bow this size on my Flag so then I noticed the stars..... mmmm I thought, I could use those, but nothing was grabbing me tenaciously enough to say; use me, use me (sorry Linda).
I just had to sit back and feast with an objective eye on this creation.
And so it was that I settled on the stars, crackle paint, twine and buttons!

My Interpretation and Flag No 9.

I prepared my substrate;
Gesso, paints, dry embossing, crackle.
Then added my trims.

Chose the elements:
Text from 'Bo Bunny' a wreath die-cut from Memory Box, and the stars were cut on the cricut.

As you can observe I run the stars through the crimper, glued sparkly sprinkles all over them......... and I cannot remember the name of the stuff to save myself.
Finished off with buttons and twine.

If you would like to join in this fun Challenge, then hop over to
The Funkie Junkie.
There is still enough time!
One of the requirements to qualify for the drawing at the end is that you must have entered each of the 12 weeks and all must be completed by midnight on December 17th.  Tags are quick and easy so what are you waiting for?

To all my followers who leave such positive comments and to my new ones who have hopped on board; thank you.
I do not mention it enough, but I am appreciative of your plaudits and enjoy reading everyone of them.

Making your own Background.

Mixed Media

For my mixed media card, I sprayed a selection of inks onto some card-stock.

Next I added Gesso, stencils, masking tape, tissue paper and stamps.
Once this is completely dry, choose preferred embossing folder and run through your machine.
OMG- is this not scrumptious?

If you are happy with your Bg at this stage,  all you need to complete your project is to embellish at will and as you can see I have used poppies, which I have fussy-cut and popped up onto the side of my card. It was not necessary to doodle around the frame, but I was in the 'moment' and it was hard for me to stop! (typical I hear you say!)

 Finished card.

The technique I use for my watercolour Bg is as follows, but you will notice that it is not my sample card, but it was made the same way.

Apply your water colours liberally, and let them dry.
Here my Watercolour paints are wet, when they air dry the result is much lighter; something to remember when applying your paints first up, you can always add more later but you will get a different pattern.  I often use a paper towel to dry off really wet areas, it is fun to see the effects this leaves on the bg.
Now you have a choice, you can use stencils and stamps, or emboss.

Here I have added a stencil swirl and more Gesso then dry embossed.

Now this is ready to be embellished and made into a card.

Some more samples:

Here I have used Alcohol Inks and Silver mixatives then dry embossed.

Flag No8-Funkie Junkie style.

Hello Everyone.
 My Flag No8.
My first job was to prepare my Bg in the same format as my previous  ones; painting up in Bundled Sage and Vintage Photo stains, stamping the Bell in Black Archival, and the Holly in Red and Black.

Adding more texture by dry embossing.

I found this little Father Christmas in my stash, I placed him in a frame.

The  Crinoline was soaked in red dye ink, and the poinsettia is made from TH Tattered Florals Die.

Princess Precious

Hello Everyone
I am going to be an unashamedly proud Nana today so if you do not want to read about my pleasurable Sunday spent with a 4year old girl I will understand.

Her name as most will know is Scarlett, but I call her Precious, and she is the joy and utter delight in my life. Well she turned 4years old on Friday and she wanted a Princess party; which to all who know her was not a surprise.

When I was in San -Francisco I was given a list as long as my arm by my daughter for the Disney Shop, with strict instructions that it must be All Pink!!! The assistant was very gracious and did not comment too much on my extensive range of Pink items that I continued to place on the counter! Rob passed some comment that perhaps it would be easier if we just bought the Shop! Men.......they just do not understand.

Anyway here are some photos of her day, she had a great time.

This is how she arrived at my house.

The card.

 The present.

Out of one pink dress into another!
All dressed and ready for her Party.
The party table.
(recognise my carriage!)

All the princesses.

The cake which my daughter made and decorated.

My girls.

 My Precious

Thank you for allowing me to share this special person with you all.
