Hello Everyone
This week at Our Creative Corner Kristin our hostess, who last week celebrated her 10th wedding Anniversary, is now on a baking binge, and has come up with an atypical Challenge for you to participate in:
Warning this not a cooking post!
To make a creation based on these delicious
looking treats - the catch? You MUST use something you would use in
baking on your creation.
So get creative - use food colouring, paper liners or sprinkles etc.
So get creative - use food colouring, paper liners or sprinkles etc.
Now you have to agree this is not a Challenge for the feint-hearted, no-one should be able to prevaricate the elements on this theme!
I went with a technique that is not often seen on cards, it is mostly used on canvas work, but as I tend to be a little individual, my thought was 'why not on card stock'.
My baking component is;
Baking soda.
My materials:
Foil case and paper case.
I flattened out the foil; it still had it's wrinkles, and cut a flower on TH 'Tattered Florals die'.
and the paper case flower with the Carl punch.

Okay, my first step:
Mix
the Gesso and baking soda, and then apply it liberally onto your card
stock, now let dry; it has a consistency of thick grainy cream.
As you can see in the picture, it creates a wonderful substrate.
Apply chosen acrylics, and spray perfect pearls on top, to create a wonderful shine.
Look at this amazing texture!
I added the rule for you to appreciate how small my Tag actually is.
Embellish as is your will.
Embellish as is your will.

I love making Tags, you can make any size and they can be finished in
less than two days which is customary for my creations!!!
Their shape
gives them a
certain artistic quality, that you can add to cards or leave as they
are.
I had some fun with this project, even though it is not edible, it is rather luscious.
The netting and mesh ribbon were purchased from the 'Frilly and Funky boutique.'

Of
course I am aware that mixed- media is not to every-ones liking, but
that is okay, even CAS enthusiasts may pick up some inspiration from
this beauty.
Please pop over to my teamies and see what delights they have added to their creations. Here.
And Welcome to my new followers I hope you will enjoy your visits every time you call,
I appreciate you very much.
I appreciate you very much.
Smiles:)

I SO WANT TO TOUCH YOUR TAG!!! LOL!!! I was thinking of doing something like this with flour, but went else where...might have to give it a go! Love love love your background...and the fact you painted and misted it is perfection!!! Love the whole colorful design...you rocked this!!!
I love what you've done with Gesso and baking soda! I love to experiment too. The texture you got on that tag is amazing, and the colors are great! You've done a great job, Sue!
Hugs ;)
I'm certain since making this tag your mind has wondered off while stirring the pot on the stove, "Hmmmm...spaghetti sauce and mod podge? No, garlic cloves covered in glossy accents..WAIT...tea bags dipped in gesso!"
Who knew stamping could be such a culinary art! Your two day tag is TOP Onion...(DOH! there's another one, onion rings and.....) I digress...your projects always transport me to a land of creativity!
Hugs to you,
Quirks
Oh Sue, that is so professional - can't believe you got it from the choccie wrapper!

The ingenuity behind your creations is amazing Sue. This was a super challenge and the DT came shining through. I have to say though, baking soda and gesso-pure brilliance. The mist of perfect pearls adds such sparkle to a beautifully crafted tag.
I'm off to take notes so I can craft a tag like yours. I'm a firm believer in the old saying, "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."
This is really a fun project and beautiful tag. Love the pretty texture and color.... :)
Way to go Sue on whipping up this beauty with some really creative ingredients. You are so amazingly creative and I love the rich mix of colors and textures on your tag. Big hugs! :)
Be-u-ti-ful! I don't always go for mixed media, but wow--yours is gorgeous, Sue!
