Kraft and not much else!

Good Morning World!

And it is a great day to be alive, I am so thankful I woke up this morning, if I hadn't you would not be having the pleasure of viewing my card and reading my post....
I have many bloggy friends, and  Rosie, (Hey There.... rosie girl!)   her genre is CAS which as you know is sooooo not me, posted up a  Kraft card on Saturday for  ODBD and it just so happened that I had a Kraft card sitting on my desk ready to embellish,  a little freaky when we are oceans away from one another that we happened to be on the same wavelength.

She loves her Kraft CS, which I never use as I am not a Brown girl, (metaphorically speaking) but as I so often belabour I am open minded to everything.
My first foray into this product was a requirement through my Dt position at OCC, I swallowed hard that day, but I made the card, not one of my better ones I will hasten to say.

I thought a change was needed to blow away the cobwebs that were beginning to form  from who knows what and make a card from Kraft and not much else!  I wanted to convince myself that I can work with this product and create something that is pleasing to the eye and if I am lucky pick up a WOW in the process.... I am not sure about the latter, but it is pleasantly attractive.
I am blathering a bit this morning I apologise........
There are two special Challenges this week I want to enter:

Penny Black Saturday Challenge....Week199--May Day! Spring themed cards!
sponsors- Fantastic Ribbon

My sentiment is from the PB transparency set 'Gratitude'  which has been stamped in Hero Hues Cerulean Chalk Ink.
My butterfly from the same set, has been white embossed on painted paper.

and Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge  No Designer Paper. the prize a $15 gift certificate.

My die-cuts are ODBD fancy labels with the matching SB labels 17. Inked up in 'frayed burlap' distress ink, then 'colourbox' white ink stamped over the top.I inked up the brocade embossing folder in frayed burlap before running it through the machine. And lastly the fanciful  flourish by 'cheery lynn designs'.

And that's me, the weekend is over sadly, but we can look forward to playing again this week which will be the beginning  of MAY! Does anyone feel like me that this Year is passing by extremely quickly.

A card for Mum.

Hello Everyone.

It is a great week as my favourite stamping shop 'Stamp'n Create' re-opened it's doors this week after a Month of re-locating to new premises, it was great to catch up with my stamping friends again, I had missed them.

I have not made a Mothers Day card for years, as I do not have one, but Precious does, so I asked her if she liked it and her reply
"oooh it is bootiful Nana"
 (she has a kiwi accent).
After explaining that it was not the right day; it took awhile, at 3 1/2,  time has no temporal meaning to her.
She won't forget though and next time I see her she will ask me for it.

This card is for a young Mother, as opposed to an aged one!!!
The flower is made up of a bit of corrugated cardboard, an inked dried baby wipe and water colour paper, embellished with a flourish, leaf, pearls and a Tag.

For a change I made a scalloped circle card.
Then die-cut two more circles in Pp and popped them up for dimension, the pink ribbons are placed underneath these circles.

My Bg water-colours and a Daisy stamped over the top.
The Flags are White embossed  and held with ribbon bows, I used a brad to hold the Flower.

Once again I hope you will join us in this Challenge, take a look at my Teamies for more inspiration. HERE

Have a great weekend and thank-you for your lovely comments that you leave me I am delighted to read them all.

A Not too Over the Top Shabby/Vintage Card.

Hello Everyone
I made a little card out of this delightful digital image from Nicecrane, link here.
Its from the set 'A Treasury of Stories'.
Ignacio has some unique digital collage sheets.
I chose this image, simple because I like it.

The Bg  is Prima and the die-cut is SB- floral Oval.
Embellishments -seam binding dyed pink, and finished off with a pretty button.

Today in New-Zealand and Australia  we commemorate ANZAC day.
(Australian and New Zealand Army Corps)
On 25 April 1915, eight months into the First World War, Allied soldiers landed on the shores of  Gallipoli,  this campaign  more than any other showcased attitudes and attributes - bravery, tenacity, practicality, ingenuity, loyalty to King and comrades - that helped New Zealand define itself as a nation, even as it fought unquestioningly on the other side of the world in the name of the British Empire.
We seem to have a proclivity for fighting in everyone wars!

They shall grow not old,
As we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them,
Nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun,
And in the morning
We will remember them.

Have a great week

Spring Tulips

Hello Everyone

Sigh.......the weekend is over, but it does mean I have more time to myself and I can spend some time creating.
Today I want to participate in 'Our Daily Bread Design Challenge'-S-P-R-I-N-G.
It has been awhile since I have joined in, only because I do not have many ODBD stamps.
The Challenge -Use at least three letters from the word Spring for your embellishment/materials. The prize, $15 gift certificate.

I chose: S-stitching, P-pearls, I-ink
 'Tulip Corner'  Stamp.

Where is the corner????? You may well ask, as is my want I dichotomised it!  This may horrify some of you, but what I am showing, is how versatile this stamp can be with a little imagination; which I have oodles of by the way, a resource that my Rob(dearest one that he is) says is the only time I am quiet (not talking) it  appears that it has a positive effect on my verbal diarrhoea!
Who thought starting a Blog would be actually good for you! Ha Ha
He has a wonderful sense of humour.

The Bg is from the 'Fairy belle' collection, 6x6 pad by Prima.
I have fussy cut a few petals and a leaf and popped them up for dimension.
Coloured up in  the only Red copic I have (R27).
The leaves in two Greens (YG03 YG61).

Fussy cut the butterflies from the paper, and added a few pearls.

The stitching is by hand using 100% cotton crochet thread.
For the trim -  some lace and the borders were cut on the cricut.

And I finished off the inside with a head of the Tulip.

I am also entering : Chocolate, coffee & Cards.

Start of a new week, hope it is a good one for you all.

A little corker!

Hello Everyone
The 3yr old Tornado (Precious)  has just left....... and Rob has popped into the Office for a few hours so that gives me some valuable moments to myself to post up my mini Tag that I have made for the  Frilly and Funky Challenge- "I'll Take Your Word For It!"
If you have not found your way to this new Challenge Blog, (it is a little different) take a few minutes and pop over ..... I am enjoying the Vintage and Frilly aspects that is required to participate.

I really enjoy making Tags, and my usual standard is to place as much embellishment as the card/tag can entertain, always keeping in mind the form and composition of the piece.
This time however, I have curtailed this urge, as I had the constant thought while creating that the sentiment had to be pole-star.
So what I finished up with is the most elemental of all colour combinations; those that are ever present in Nature.

The Challenge----" let your sentiment take centre stage and be the focal point of your project".

The base CS is Kraft, I added the cotton Lace for the frilly requirement, and the lacy circle die-cut is  cut from cork; it adds a wonderful texture.
I printed out the words and used distress inks to make it a focal point.

The Butterfly embellishment was included for some interest and it is just enough I think.
(thanks Rosie ).

Thank you so much for visiting.

A Spray for my Bonnet.....

"Hello Everyone and a Happy Easter".

My weekend this Easter is one shared with Family and Friends, a quiet day today, but may not be on Monday when Precious arrives, she is like a tornado, not in the destructive sense but more like a tempest where upheaval reigns, but I love every moment, probably as I know it is short lived.......Ha

I hand made all the flowers, using the TH Tattered Florals Die. The papers are a mix of watercolour (my own) and  Prima.

I used cotmans watercolours to make my Bg I wanted a soft and pretty effect, and I think I achieved it.

I added some lace, ribbon, pearls and net.
The TH Distressed Doily was used for the bottom of the card.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend,
