I am very excited this week because...........

 Hello Everyone.
Last week I was bemoaning the fact that my creativity was prostrate on the floor, well there is nothing like great news to become vertical in an instant, and spring forth with inspiration that is cascading like a waterfall.

This was in my in-box:
Dear Sue
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Your amazing creations and wonderful work have earned you a spot on the design team for Our Creative Corner.

This is the reason I have been so quiet, the surprise was thrilling to say the least, I could use a number of superlatives to give you a picture of what I was like that day, but suffice to say my dearest one was glad to get to bed that night!!!
I had thought long and hard about applying for a position as a DT  but I always made excuses on why I could not commit, but when OCC put out a calling, well I just had to give it a go, as this was one of the first Challenge Blogs I followed and where I met the very talented

Linda Coughlin  (funkiejunkie.)

Grab Our Badge
So please support me in my first DT position, it all starts on Feb 4th, and although I am excited I am also a little anxious with my first entry, hoping it will be up to the mark as they have some exceptional girls on the team.

I have even been slack in visiting you all so please accept my apologies I will settle down soon!
I just want to add my congratulations to my fellow DT's
Hope you are all having a great week.

The White Palette.

Hello Everyone.
To the human eye, White is a brilliant colour.
It imparts purity and simplicity, pure White is the symbol of absolute minimalism or a clean slate against which all other colours may contrast, it is not a friendly colour on its own and can be viewed as cold,  so the design of a White card is very important to avoid the severity it can imbue, you do this by adding soft elements and texture and thereby giving the card a quintessential classic feel.
I hope I have succeeded!!!!!!!

I have been wanting to make a White on White card for a long time, so when the
Southern Girls Challenge came out this week with this theme I was thrilled.

Challenge #36 - White on White!

I cut the Trellis Bg and the Frame on my Cricut.

I embossed said Frame with White Diamond EP then added the White Pearls.
To create the 3d effect I placed foam dots to attach to the Bg

My intention was to continue with my shabby chic genre, but it was never going to happen with this design.
Embossing the image softens up the whole card, don't you think?

My image is made with the Technique of Paper casting using the Hero Arts Stamp 'Sweet Daffodils' and White Kleenex Tissues.

And the inside.

We are having delightful weather at last!

My White Space......

Hello Everyone

'love all that white space"... a statement that can cause an allergic reaction!

Now I am not going to continue the saga of my deficiencies in CAS because I am beginning to get a little too tiresome and repetitious even for me, so I am thinking it must be irksome for you as well.

So forward we march....... left right, left right.... and head on into this wonderful genre called
Clean a Simple; a most perplexing Acronym.

Chrissie and Mandi at Less is More have had the need to exert the rules with this Challenge by stating  Remember to add NO additional layers and to keep embellishments to a minimum.

Gosh I felt a little wrap on the knuckles when I read this, as last week I did not adhere to the rules with my Purple creation.

I AM trying, and I think I am improving.

I have to thank my friend Rosie (take a look at her blog you will not be disappointed).
She has been my advocate in this area as she creates the most classical CAS cards, that you can only be stimulated by and inspired to at least try to parallel.

The Challenge at
Less is More   Week 50 One Layer - Bird.

I have given it centre stage as I am pleased as punch with this creation.
Can you see my white space, and it is ALL on ONE LAYER!
Can you see it everyone, it is there in plain White, and there is absolutely nothing, not even a gem or anything close that resembles an embellishment.
I definitely qualify with this creation.

Here is a close-up

My WHITE space.
I am also entering this card into :

Penny Black Saturday Challenge...Week 184 Anything Goes.

I coloured up the stamps with Faber Castell Big Brush Markers before stamping onto my card, then I filled in the branch with vintage photo distress ink with a water brush.
These are the stamps I used
Penny Black (natures day)
Rubadubbadoo (Sentiment and dots)

Have a great weekend and thanks for all your wonderful comments on my written word.

LOVE you!

Hello Everyone.
You are all getting into Valentines day cards with a vengeance, so I thought I would join you and enter the   CASE Study Challenge #73
Card  BELOW by (Jen Rzasa) IS beautiful.
I wondered how I would interpret it!

My intention was to create a negative window, but unfortunately it never materialised,  I did punch many cards in different shapes and mounted them in different ways, then I zoned out and I wondered into some fantasy bubble.
( for a considerable time I might add.)
When the reverie was over, I was engulfed with  numerous cut out shapes, cards, inks, bits of ribbon, beads etc.
In other words utter chaos!

I cannot create in a mess, I am a very organised person, though at this precise moment I was questioning this endowment. I certainly went into a state of torpidity, the scary part about this is that I was enjoying myself!!!!!!!!
My God oops....I mean goodness, this sounds wacky.
I am blaming Frigga( Norse goddess whom Friday was named after) and it was the 13th, unlucky for some!

So you now have the missive of how my card started out, here is the finished product......

I found my Alcohol Inks last week, so I coloured up some Glossy card, following the colour theme of  Jen's butterflys.

Stamped LOVE (magenta rubber stamp) with Ancient Page dye ink, punched out the individual letters and mounted on a creamy coloured Bg. The Frame that will act as my window was cut on the Cricut using the Fancy Frames cartridge, and I randomly inked with antique linen and walnut stain DI.

The card looks a little crazed don't you think?

It gives off a feeling of Chaos as there is so much going on;.... the busy stamp, the random inking, the multi colours that are not quiet, but strong and vibrant......
ahhhhhhh just like me!!!!!!!!!!
My embellishment is probably superfluous, along with the lace, it just all symbolises my harum-scarum state of mind at the time.

All I have left to say at this stage is pop over to Case Study and take a look at Chupa's and the DT cards, they will promote inspiration for this Challenge far more than what I have created, oh well we can't be perfect  All OF THE TIME .

Have a great weekend, at the least the sun is shining today here.

Predominately Purple and paper-clips!

Hello Everyone.
It is still Raining!
But I am not going to verbose about the state of our weather, which will bore you to death...
What I am going to confabulate about though is the current Challenge over at"Less is More" a colour theme which is Predominately Purple.

Purple is the colour of good judgement.
It is the colour of people seeking spiritual fulfilment.
It is said if you surround yourself with purple you will have peace of mind.
Less is More is a Challenge Blog, where the guidelines are to ensure your entry is
  Clean & Simple.
A design of card with clean lines, minimal elements, areas of white space and few or no embellishments.
I have made a card, even though my definition of a CAS is probably different to Chrissie and Mandi.
But I wanted to participate as I have a penchant for this colour, and there are not too many Challenges that choose this colour for a theme, so I was excited when I saw the Challenge, but I then became morose when I saw it was Less is More.

How  supercilious does this sound?

It is just irksome to me, as I have to admit to myself that I am not good at creating such cards (and this does not sit well at all). But I have another idiosyncrasy in my Character and that is tenacity.
 (it sounds better than pigheadedness)!!!!!!

I used this little teeny weeny part of my personality to make the card, to prove yet again that I will not be beaten by a mere Acronym!

I started with a Purple CS.....
well so far so good....I dug out my under-used Alcohol Inks
and  dabbed wild plum, purple twilight and stonewashed, onto a piece of Acetate until I was happy... it took awhile, and you can imagine the state I and my desk was in by the time it was finished; I forgot to use gloves!
Of course this is where I ponder and cerebrate, as opposed to celebrate......
What to do now?

I could leave it as is, it would just be with-in the formula.
But it needs a focus a contrast to create an impact, so I added the HA sentiment with the striped paper-clips.

This is the close -up
The lines were created by embossing through the Vagabond.

This is where I most probably have disqualified myself in this Challenge.
I am hopeless, there is always that little bit of devilishness in me to break the RULES.

But whatever I will enter anyway, as I keep trying and hopefully the rules of engagement will kick in at some stage!!!!
Have I obtained Peace of Mind?
Perhaps there was not enough Purple around me........yeah right!

It has been an enjoyable 30mins telling you about this I hope I have not fatigued you with my missive.
Have a good week

Chichi Shabby Chic all the way please....

Hello Everyone
I am posting today from a wet and miserable Auckland, in fact it has been like this ALL week!
Any visitor to this place would not be impressed with our summer to date, as it has been a total of about 4days!
I can bemoan about it, but it would not improve the situation, so I have to acquiesce and spend time indoors and my craft room......... oh, what a shame........

Three Challenges are screaming at me to enter this card, the first is:

Pollycraft Monday  Challenge #121 - Punch It (Sheena)
sponsored by:

Scrap Affair Blog

and the second which is a favourite of mine is
sponsored by:

And the Third is:
Over at the Pond; Lily Pad Cards, where they have two colour palettes that you can choose from, I chose this one (an exact match is not required – just land in the same ballpark). a $20 gift certificate from Our Craft Lounge!

I returned to my favourite genre to lift the spirits, no challenging themes today, I am not in the right frame of mind.

I used the TH Tattered Florals Die for the flower and inked up with tumbled glass, and a touch of victorian velvet.
I used a punch for the Hearts and dry embossed through the Vagabond.

The Frame has been cut on the Cricut using the Fancy Frames Cartridge and inked up with some subtle stamping of script on the Bg (to create a little interest)..

The image within the frame of the Bird was a little piece of scrap on my work desk; it was perfect.

My Bg paper is Kaisercraft and I have randomly stamped using a PB music Bg at the (R) corner and at the bottom of the card in frayed burlap and machine stitched a border, as I thought this would be softer than my Hand stitching thread.
The TH Distressed Doily Die connects with the pattern of my frame.

To complete my 'Chic' look I coloured up some seam binding for my double bow and added the cream lace and pearls.

I love the process of layering up with elements to formulate a picture in this way.
Mixed Media gives me an emotional charge and I am always pleased with myself afterwards, it does not have to be a stunning creation, it is the process of manipulating the fabric, paints, paper etc that is so absorbing and fulfilling to me.

 This is the inside:
The sentiment is from Crafty Secrets T set.

I hope you have a good weekend and thanks for looking.

The Need for a Routine....

Hello Everyone.

I am desperate to return to a routine of my days, where I am in Charge!!!
The Holiday period finishes today, but things will not settle until Monday probably, and to be pathetically honest, I cannot wait.
I wallow in the Christmas festivities, but I have had enough now and I need to start creating on a regular basis.
Is anyone else of this disposition or is it just me being  petulant and peevish as I get older?

Age is relevant this month as I become a year older, Crap!...  The negative reaction tells you I am not too thrilled, but the positive is that I am having a weekend away with Rob to a Beach Resort and Spa North of Auckland.
Plus, and it's a biggie I have tickets to see Ronan Keating live for a one off show, so having a birthday is not so bad after all when I think about it!

That is my introduction, now for the content.....

I am starting the Year with good intentions, extending myself to my nemesis genre CAS.
It goes against the grain not to layer as you all know, but I am living with this one.
 A huge step for me!

A 'Thank You' card designed with a soft feminine touch and clean lines.
I have not used a butterfly on a card for so long, I added one here to create movement, and the lace for texture.
All the elements I love on a card.

I have white embossed the butterflyand placed a trail of pink bling.
The border is Ribbon, Lace, Punch.
(where is a recipe Challenge when I need one!!!!!).
The punch is Fiskars.
Sentiment is Inkadinkado.

And the Ending...

Shabby Tea Room   Week #95 - 'Time Flies'
