Wild Rose.

Good Morning All
It is cold and wet here in Auckland.

I have turned myself completely away from Loud Yellow (my last creation), to the soft muted tones of warm and cool shades, almost 'dusky' with this card.
This is more me, but I like to break out wildly on times!!!! even though the results are not always to my liking, it extends me, and stops me from becoming bored.
My close friend returned from a trip in Europe, and this is the stamp she bought for me as a gift, she knew exactly what I would like, it is gorgeous.

The image lends itself to a CAS card, but naturally my instinct is to embellish I can't help myself, even though I know it can hold it's own on one layer.
Rosie, you would make a wonderful card with this image.

It is called 'wild rose' from Personal Impressions and I coloured it up with my Marvy pens using the thumping technique, I paper-pieced a few leaves to create some interest, it turned out  wonderfully after a few practise runs!!!!  I will admit to a disaster or two!
But I had fun and enjoyed the feeling of the 'unknown' it is always a surprise with this technique, there is apprehension and excitement when you lift the stamp off the CS and you uncover what was hidden. There could be a high degree of gratification or there could be a high degree of disappointment, but this is the fun part, you get to know what works and you learn!

Challenges entered for this card are:
Wee Memories #60  'Party time'

Make it Monday #43  always Anything Goes.
CAS-ual Fridays 'Getting Edgy'

A pieced flower

Hello Everyone.

It is cold and wet today, Ch Ch earth -quake residents are learning today that  some suburbs are going to be bulldozed and cleared, the Government are going to buy them out so that they can start a life some place else, how traumatic this news will be for some especially the elderly. I think there are around 5000 homes affected.
But, it will be welcoming news for the majority I would guess, as they have had enough of no running water, no toilets only port-a-loos on the street to use, and no decisions or payouts from EQC.
Certain suburbs are a complete mess!

I felt we all needed a bit of sunshine in our lives so I made this card, it is from the
'Flowers and Wishes' Transparency set by Penny Black.

Stamped onto my watercolour paper, and I chose a palette which is predominantly  warm and vivid.  Initially I felt it was a little sharp, but once I coloured and pieced the flower heads in the whimsical orange, the card became cheerful and friendly.
I chose not to place a sentiment as I felt it would be a card for many occasions.

This is a close up of the flower head.
I added Beadazzles for the centre.

Nearly the end of the week once again, hope you are all well.

Shabby chic for a change!

Hello Everyone.
I made this card to enter two Challenges;

Sketch Saturday #160

I made a shabby chic card as I had not made one for awhile.

And over at allsorts the recipe is

3 papers. 2 Ribbons. 1 Flower.

Week 108 - 3-2-1 at allsorts.

I followed the sketch quite well I thought. My colour palette is the earthy Brown and warm serene turquoise with a hint of pink, it is  subtle but it creates a soft effect, which when viewed as a whole is pleasing to the eye.

Well I think so anyway.

Butterfly,Ribbon and lace were a gift from Rosie. (thankyou). The Flower is one from my stash. Papers are a mix; one is 5th avenue, one is a  watercolour and the other I have no idea.

All were from the scrap basket.
I spent a most enjoyable two days making this card, I still love this genre very much.

Deconstructed Poppies...

Hello Everyone.
I hope you all had a good weekend, I certainly did, I spent time in my room creating, it is always satisfying when you actually complete a card or two as well instead of pottering and straying from computer to card table, does this relate to any of you?

So I made a few cards as you have noticed by my frequent postings, I may bring you up to date with my last post where I pinched an idea from Rosie, you will all be pleased to hear that we are still on speaking terms!!! Ha
And yes Rosie you have rubbed off on me, but I was unaware until now!

This card was created with the view of entering the Hero Arts Challenge
'watercolour technique.'

The Hero Arts(CG140) Poppy background.

I have painted the Poppies with Broken China distress ink using a water brush, after white embossing the stamp.
Once again I only used part of the image, choosing this palette is mindful of clean and clear (white)  but with a hint of warmth (Turquoise).
Suitable for a sympathy card I thought.

I am doing so well at "Make It Monday"BLOG I have featured 2weeks in a row by two different Dt's and if I could copy the darn Blinkie thing to say as much I would, but it will not do it for me.
I am entering this card for #42 Challenge and see if I can do one better this week!

I may have a few days off now as I have posted up all my cards!
