Card scraps for a Tag

Tag Tuesday once more and Louise (Kard krazy) wanted us to use left over scraps from our cards.
So seeing as I have quite a bit (like many of you) I thought I would see if I could put one together, it is more of a challenge than you first think.

I had some vintage paper over with this Santa face, I thought it was too big a image for a card, but a Tag well it could work!

I also had left over circles, they were not the right size but a little bit of imagination never stopped the creativeness, so I used two different ones for the background.
Added a snowflake that was lying in the tools tray as was the holly, found a bit of tulle, and a pearl. Have to own up to making the Greetings text though, but I suddenly had a brain wave, more like an tsunami really. It is New Years Eve tomorrow for us (you do realise that NZ is the first to see the New Year in.!) So it was very appropriate to see out the old and let in the new on this Tag.
Very clever of me don't you think? I will add that it is first thing in the morning here, and a glorious day, all conducive to good brain waves.

It may also be that I have had a few days break from making cards, I did post my 5 favourite Xmas cards which was no work, but I have to tell you that while I was sorting out what 5 to post (which was really difficult. Like Dawn I could have picked 10 easily.)
I found it was better than being in therapy to look back on what one has created over the past year. You look at the cards in a different way; critically for sure, but you also realise how good you are at this Art!!! So one should never be afraid of acknowledging and recognising one's talent and to feel good about it.
Sharing and giving of the creations is the icing on the cake, as there is always a positive reaction, it may only be one comment, but that is all it takes to inspire once more and lift one's spirits. So to all who do take the time to comment know that it is always, always received gratefully.
And with that I will leave you and wish you all,
Smiles :) as always.

Five special christmas cards

Favourite Cards.

I loved the way the beads worked on the Candle.
This one because I did not use Traditional colours,
and I made my own background paper.
I love the colours that I made the rose out of, I have tried to
recreate the paper but alas to no avail, I must get into the
habit of recording the colours I use when painted.
This one because it is so vintage.

Have a great Day.
Smiles as always:)

Quick Vintage card.

This is definitely the last Tag for me for 2010.
I used an image from the Pink Paislee paper, which I dye cut into a circle.
The Tag has been distressed with  forest moss and faded jeans as has the sentiment.
The flourish has been covered with Glossy Accents, I seem to like using this product!

This was the quickest Tag I made as hubby needed it like yesterday!.
The craft room is going to have a break for the next couple of days.
It is Christmas Eve for us in 4 hours, so it is prep time in the Kitchen,
I have no room in the big fridge, no room in the small fridge, same old same old, nothing seems to change.
I have finished all the shopping today as I really did not want to go anywhere near a Mall tomorrow. I, like most, have experienced the worst driving ever, (cars and Trollies)! everyone appears to be in a panic, the humidity and hot days are not helping ones temperament I can tell you!  Sleep deprivation makes one do odd things.
This is a wonderful time of year, and I love it, but it does bring the worst out of some people.
Anyway, onwards and upwards as they say, and plan for the magical day,
and it will be as I have a great family, I am lucky and I know it. We are spending Christmas morning together with a sumptuous Brunch.
Then everyone has to do their in-law visits. For Rob and I it is to our neighbours for a full on Turkey/Ham lunch with their family.
My wish to you is to be happy and count your blessings.
Happy, happy Christmas day everyone.
Smiles :) as always,

Gold Tag

Hello my friends....
I made a Tag for Louise' Tag Tuesday.
Pop and have a browse there are some great Tags on show.
This is the first time for me to participate in this Challenge.
I do not know if I will keep up with making one every Tues but I will try!
This weeks challenge was to use either Silver or Gold, as you can see I used Gold.

I have used scraps of paper that was left over from cards etc, I  stamped and gold embossed on the green paper you can just about pick it up.
Used rub-ons for the text.
The numbers  were passed through the CB, then painted with rich gold Acrylic.
Once this was dry I covered them with Glossy Accents as they were not bold enough.
There are some gold stars on the top left and the bottom.

I thought this was my last project before Christmas day, but my dear hubbie Rob, who never asks me to do very much for him, (he is such a sweetheart), thought his girls at work NEED some Christmas Cheer, he bought the wine,
and asks,
"darling have you got some tags or something to put on these bottles!" unquote.
I only had two left so I have to make another very quickly.

Not long now before we can open some presents, can't wait.

Smiles :) as always.

Mixed Media Box

Seasons Greetings Everyone.
I have made the Box for little Precious to hold her fob ornaments.
First one was made this year, there is an image below for those who have not viewed last posts.

I started off with a plain shallow box. Gave it two coats of Gesso, then applied
Rich Gold, Rose gold and Burnished copper and Blue Acrylics randomly over the whole box including the bottom and insides.
I added Tulle, buttons and sand mortar to the top of the Box.
Letters were painted with same colours and stamped with black stazon ink lightly, and finished off with Glossy Accents. I then sealed the whole thing by covering with a gloss varnish. I want it too last a long time!
Image of Santa is from the page that I have made the ornaments out of, I also used some rub on words in Black. I have just placed the ornament I made for this year on the left, for you to see.

I am not a photographer (obviously), which is a pity as the box is really lovely and I am so pleased with the way it has turned out, as with any random painting technique you never know how it will look in the finish, you just cross your fingers and pray!

I have got the Tag Bug

You have no doubt seen all the Tags everyone has been making since his Worship started his 12 tags for Christmas, and posting one each day for us to drool over.
Well I have been blown away by them and how you are all interpreting his designs has been very inspiring, so I sat down today and made one myself.
And this is what I came up with, I did not follow any of the designs that have been posted to date as I am an individualist and I like to do my own creation, it has a definite vintage look because it is all distressed, I added elements to create interest and to add form. I do hope you like what I have made.

It has been a wonderful weekend in N.Z. It is a little piece of paradise that I am so happy to have found, along with Rob and the girls I could not ask for much more.

Traditional it is not!

 Hello to you all,

It is a Sunflower stamp by Lucy's stamps, as you can see I have gold embossed the image and placed them free form within the circle. Added some Prima embellishments for the centre and stamped a sentiment. The background paper I made. Gold wash onto watercolour paper, you can just pick up the shimmer, then I  printed a music sheet onto this via computer.
.Have a great weekend.
Smiles :)

Beautiful Roses

My Neighbours grow these wonderful Roses in their Garden
I thought Barb may appreciate seeing them. I know you work among the flowers all day Barb but they are so pretty.
I made some cards for them as it was mentioned they needed to buy some.  I have so many spare in my house, certainly too many for me to use, well they were thrilled.  Fair exchange I think.
They have a wonderful perfume as well.

 Have a great weekend all.

No distressing!!!

Hello my friends. Today I rose early 0630hrs to be precise, I am having a visitor! Why am I so excited you ask, well I do not get out that much in the week and everyone works these days so it is not easy to meet people, hence my  absorption into blogging.
It has been a wonderful experience for me these last few months and I am so enjoying connecting with you all, I hope my cards inspire others to feel they want to follow me and I continue on this trend of finding fellow crafters all over the world. I do not feel so isolated these days.  I find all these incredible places as I click from one site to the next.  Dear Rob is complaining I am always in my room, but I know he is happy for me. I am making so many cards, I do not know what I am going to do with them all!!!
My visitor is a lovely lady I worked with at the Hospital, she has just retired so has some time on her hands, I have not seen her for a couple of years so no doubt it is going to be non stop talking, as the both of us are great talkers...........

I hope you like my card I am posting today it is an older stamp by Stamp it but I like it very much.
The wreath has been stamped and heat embossed with Green embossing powder.
 I dry embossed the background.
Coloured with:
Dimensional pearls.
Dimensional magic.
Dye cuts Spellbinders.
Music paper of the web.
CG Sentiment.
I have not distressed.... Amazing that I held back, I was going to just touch up the white Circle on the edges but I kept it clean for a change.

Well I had better get moving, I am going to make some cheese scones for morning tea. Have a great day.

Today I made another version of the Penny Black candle stamp.

Gosh where do I start to describe this card.
Well first I distressed and inked all the papers including the Dye cut.

Brilliance ink for the image.
Micro beads
Dimensional  magic
Dimensional pearls
Hand made Roses dusted with mustard seed distress powder and embossed.

Hope you are all having a good day.

Inside and Out card

Hello once again to my fellow card-makers, I spent the day inside as the weather in Auckland is depressing! We have a long weekend coming up and many city-siders will be heading North to have a break and hoping for some Sunshine. It is windy and precipitating frequently and to add to the misery it is cold!!! This time of year we usually have warm days and it is often a time to clean up the Barbie as we look forward to eating outside on the Deck or Patios. But it is not happening......we are looking at the forecasts and every day it is the same, when you talk to anyone they all mention the unusual weather.
Oh goodness is this boring or what!!!!!
I started this card making the Flowers after viewing Jennifer Mcquire Holiday thinking  inking  at 2peas as have so many of you.

The Flowers
Made by cutting a spiral and clear embossing.  I did use distress powder on one of them to create a little texture. It almost looks as if it is dusted with sugar.
The Butterfly

Once again I have used my own paper, this one was Watercolour paper and watercolour paints.
C.B. Butterfly x 2  liquid pearls for the trail.
Stitching  by machine.

Now you have a sneak peak at the inside.
Inside of Card
 I stamped a Butterfly image
with Gold and BLUE.
Then I painted up the wings in White.
The dry embossing at left hand corner is a C.B folder, and of course I followed through with a little flower.

Tools I used M.S.Punch. Sewing machine, CB,
I am hoping to enter this card into the Caardvarks challenge.
and Just Add Ink 40 Challenge
Mmmm I am still learning. Ha ha

Caroling hedgehogs.

Hello everyone
Hope you have had a good weekend. The weather turned for the worse today (Sunday) so dear hubby thought it would be good for him to rest up.  He strained his foot a couple of weeks ago and he has been told to rest it as much as possible by the physio, the worse advice you could give a man!! Also according to him she said  he was not allowed to do the dishes, the gardening, in fact he is not allowed to do anything at this time until his foot is better!!!!!! HA. Typical man is my Rob, and any opportunity that presents itself where he can work it to his advantage he jumps on it.  Two can work at this game I thought, so today I encouraged him to rest, and this then gave me the free time to spend in my craft room creating.
I made this card......
Tools I used: Cuttlebug, spellbinders, Sewing machine.
Stamp is Penny Black of course, I have used H2o's to colour.
Clear embossed the snowflakes  on green card.
The music sheet I printed out from the web and distress inked with Tattered rose and dusty concord.  Added some sparkle  and bling to complete. Hope you like the effect.

Watercolour cards

First Card

Hello everyone, today I had a great time Stamping, painting, Spritzing, cutting, and layering.

This Penny Black stamp is one of my favourites, and I have made many cards all of them different with it.
Today I made two flower cards.
I painted up two images with Twinkling H2o's on watercolour paper, using the technique of painting the colours directly onto the stamp, then spritzing it before stamping the image. I masked one image and once again stamped a text on top.
I cut the other stamped flower out and placed it over the stamped image. It is not a 3d just a raised effect.

Second Card

This one was done exactly the same I used a different background stamp. I added coloured cotton instead of ribbon for a change.

I did think of adding some bling to the flowers I am undecided at the moment I will live with them for a day or so then decide if they need it.

Poppy Cards.

It has been a busy morning for me, which is unusual,  I spend most of days pottering around the house. I do not work any more. Lucky me you say, but there is a downside and that is I do not meet people of my own age with the same interests. Everyone works!!! So you will now understand why I value my virtual friends, starting up the Blog has been wonderful for my mental health.
So Thank-you, Thank-you Thank-you.
Poppy card No 1
Lavender and Sage Green
I used a brayer to ink up the HA Poppy stamp, with  Brilliance Twilight stamp pad. I used my Spellbinders labels 8 Dye to crop the image.

Then I machine stitched the Sage Green C.S. onto a Lavender C.S which has been punched with my favourite MS border punch. I added TRIM and PEARLS. I also cut a strip of accent paper to the
white card.
Stop Now Sue.
I tried very hard to keep it simple and not make it
too busy.

Christmas Teddy cards

These are my two cards that I made at Stamp Group last Saturday, compared to Dawn and her
10 cards, I did not do so well.
However, I had a wonderful time, I would have loved to have stayed longer but it was a friends birthday and we had plans for Dinner in Auckland. I gave her one of my flower cards that I have made of late, and she loved it.
Tools I used are:
MS border punches.
Carl Snowflake punch.

As you can see I added some lace and computer generated text
Teddy has been painted with Twinkling H2O's his hat trim was filled with Diamond dust'.
My dear daughter thought they were too busy, but I quite like busy!
If you think the placement of first layer of paper on this card looks askew, it is not a mistake but intended.
Well that is my explanation and I am sticking to it!!!!!

Thank you for all your comments on my work I am always happy to here from you.

More Flowers

Make as many layers this way as you like, you can use the same sizes or use different sizes, depending how big you want them.
To make a bud use a small circle and fold a couple of times and squish, then open slightly.
You may have to cut the bottom off a little so that it lies flat.
Good luck, I hope you have as much enjoyment making them as I have.

Thankyou card

There is quite a bit of work in this card.
First there is the hand made flower and leaves made out of hand painted paper.
Secondly I stamped and heat embossed the first layer on the card, and I made a decorative edge with a Martha Stewart Border Punch.
There is also a hand painted background paper underneath this if you look closely.
And to tie it altogether I made a Thank You out of Spellbinders scalloped circle.
I was so pleased with the flower that I made more!
I intend to make a few more cards in the same genre.
Watch this space!

Hand painted background card

This card was hand painted. First with dye inks for the background, I used my Nestabilities to layer up the shapes, then watercolours for the collaged dye cut, I used Gesso over this to tone down the effect. I edged with gold leaf flakes. The snowflakes sit on some stiff ribbon. It turned out really well!
